Best of the West Film Competition

Rules and Regulations, Terms and Conditions

  1. All videos for competition must be submitted via the event website, bestofwestfilmcompetition.com and must meet the following criteria:
    1. Must be original footage shot by the entrant
    2. Must be five minutes in length or less
    3. Must not contain any images or sounds that could be considered offensive, rude, inappropriate, or illegal including but not limited to:
      1. Nudity
      2. Sexual imaging or innuendo
      3. Profane language
      4. Clothing with offensive images
      5. Inappropriate gestures of any sort
      6. Any reference, direct or indirect, to illegal substances
      7. Any reference, direct or indirect, to alcohol use or abuse
      8. Any reference, direct or indirect, in contradiction with commonly accepted avalanche safety guidelines and practices
    4. Footage may not be shot on private property to which the entrant does not have legal access
  2. Videos may be submitted in the following age classifications and categories:
    1. Age Classification I: Up to age 18
    2. Age Classification II: Age 18 – 24
    3. Sport Category I: Skiing
    4. Sport Category II: Snowboarding
    5. Sport Category III: Snowmobiling
  3. Each entrant may enter as many videos as he/she likes within his/her Age Classification across all Sport Categories
  4. Videos must be submitted between March 1, 2008 and April 4, 2008
  5. The public will vote for their favorite videos via the event website between March 1, 2008 and April 9, 2008. Within each Age Classification/Sport Category, the two videos receiving the most public votes will be considered the Finalists for that Age Classification/Sport Category. Each Finalist video will be viewed by a panel of celebrity athlete judges who will each vote for their favorite of the two Finalist videos. The video in each Age Classification/Sport Category winning the most celebrity judge votes will be the winning video in that Age Classification/Sport Category.
  6. The entrants who submitted the winning videos will be honored at a Screening and Awards Ceremony on April 12, 2008. Each entrant will be admitted to the event and the reception following the event free of change and may bring two (2) immediate family members with them free of charge (mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, sister, brother). All entrants who are not of legal age (18 years of age) must be accompanied by an adult to both the Screening and Awards Ceremony and the reception following the event.
  7. The Shea Family Foundation, ELEV8MARKETING, and all event sponsors, their employees, affiliates, board members, supporters, founders and owners, are neither responsible nor liable in any way for the entrant athletes’ and/or any persons associated with them actions and behavior at any time before, during or after the filming of any video footage that may be included in entrant videos.
  8. The Shea Family Foundation, ELEV8MARKETING, and all event sponsors, their employees, affiliates, board members, supporters, founders and owners, are in no way responsible or liable for any injuries and/or death the entrant athletes and/or any persons associated with them in any way may experience before, during or after the filming of any video footage that may be included in entrant videos.
  9. The Shea Family Foundation, ELEV8MARKETING, and all event sponsors, their employees, affiliates, board members, supporters, founders and owners, are in no way responsible or liable for any damage the entrant athletes and/or any persons associated with them in any way may cause or contribute to causing before, during or after the filming of any video footage that may be included in entrant videos.
  10. All entrant athletes and/or any persons associated with them must abide by The Skier’s Code of Conduct as defined by the PSIA and the resort at which they are recreating at the time of filming.
  11. All entrant athletes and/or any persons associated with them must abide by all commonly accepted Avalanche safety rules, regulations, codes and practices at all times.
  12. All entrant athletes and/or any persons associated with them must abide by all Federal, State, and Local laws, and all resort rules and regulations at all times while filming any footage that may be used in a video for submission.
  13. All entrant athletes and/or any persons associated with them, their families, legal guardians, affiliates and associates of all types accept full responsibility for all entrant athletes’ and/or any persons associated with them actions at all times before, during, or after filming any footage that may be used in a video for submission to The Best of the West Snow Sports Film Competition and fully release The Shea Family Foundation, ELEV8MARKETING, and all event sponsors, their employees, affiliates, board members, supporters, founders and owners, from any and all liability and responsibility for any and all physical, mental or emotional injury and/or death and for any and all damage that may occur before, during, or after filming any footage that may be used in a video submission to the Best of the West Snow sports Film Competition.
